Seafood Mac and cheese is the perfect main dish for any occasion, as your family and friends will love it. It is a tasty seafood version of the classical Mac and cheese recipe, where we added lobster and shrimp tails. You can experiment with other types of seafood like crabmeat or crawfish, to enrich the flavors.
Seafood Mac and Cheese Recipe
A luxurious Seafood Mac and Cheese recipe that pairs seafood with a decadent mac n cheese.
Ingredients
- 11 oz. Elbow Macaroni, dry
- 7 tablespoons Butter
- 1 Shallot, chopped
- 1 Garlic Clove, minced
- 1/3 cup Flour, all-purpose
- 3 cups Milk, whole
- 1 cup Fontina Cheese, grated
- 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, grated
- 2 cups Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 1/2 cups Lobster Meat, already cooked and chopped
- 1 cup Shrimp Tails, cleaned
- Salt, to taste
- Black Pepper, to taste
- Nutmeg, a pinch
- 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning, dry
- ¼ teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- ¼ teaspoon Onion Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- Cayenne Pepper, a pinch
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Prepare macaroni as indicated on the package instructions. Drain them 2 minutes before the time indicated on the package. Rinse the pasta under the cold running water.
- Melt 3 tablespoons of butter and place it in a small mixing bowl. Let it cool and set aside.
- Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a skillet or a saucepan.
- Add onion and garlic, and cook until translucent.
- Add in flour and stir for approximately one minute.
- Pour in the milk and whisk vigorously until lump-free.
- Cook over low heat until it begins to thicken.
- Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Stir in lobster, shrimp tails, pasta and grated cheese.
- Add breadcrumbs in a mixing bowl with previously melted butter. Season with Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and salt.
- Top the pasta with the mixture and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- To add more texture, stir in some freshly grated parmesan cheese into the breadcrumb topping.
