Tiramisu is a traditional Italian dessert with a spectacular texture and delicious taste. It originates from the Italian region of Veneto, where it was mentioned for the first time in the 19th century in the town of Treviso. Its name literally means “pick me up,” and at the time, it was meant to be an aphrodisiacal dessert.
Traditional Tiramisu Recipe
A luxurious Traditional Tiramisu recipe which pairs Ladyfingers with a decadent mascarpone cream.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Mascarpone
- 24 Ladyfingers
- 1 cup Coffee
- 4 Egg Yolks
- 3 Egg Whites
- 5 tablespoon Sugar
- Cocoa Powder, to taste
Instructions
- In two separate bowls, divide the egg yolk and egg whites.
- Add 2 tablespoons of sugar into egg whites and whisk until stiff peaks form.
- Add 3 tablespoons into egg yolks and whisk until you obtain a pale and thick cream.
- Stir in mascarpone cheese until well combined and homogeneous.
- Add the mascarpone and mix together until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add whisked egg whites into the mascarpone mixture and fold them in gently.
- Dip each Ladyfingers into coffee for 2 seconds on each side.
- Cover the bottom of the dish with soaked Ladyfingers.
- Cover them with half of the mascarpone mixture and spread it evenly.
- Cover the cream with another soaked Ladyfingers layer, and then add another layer of mascarpone cream.
- Cover the dish with plastic foil and let it refrigerate overnight.
- Dust tiramisu with cocoa powder and serve.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- Do not soak Ladyfingers for more than one to two seconds per side.
- Cocoa powder needs to be added before serving.
- You can store tiramisu in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
