- 1 ½ lb Ground Beef
- ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black Pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon Parsley, fresh, chopped
- 1 Egg
- ¾ cup Breadcrumbs
- ¾ cup Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese, grated
- 24 oz Marinara Sauce
- 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese, dried, shredded or sliced
- 3 tablespoons Olive Oil, extra virgin
- 4 slices French Bread, cut lengthwise
Season ground beef with garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Add fresh parsley, egg, breadcrumbs, and grated Parmigiano cheese.
Use wet hands to incorporate all the ingredients.
Form medium-sized meatballs.
Heat extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for 10 minutes, tossing frequently to ensure an even cook.
Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for approximately 20 minutes.
Place meatballs and sauce onto sliced bread and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese or slices.
Put subs on a pan and place in the top rack of the oven. Broil until the cheese has melted.
Serve and enjoy.
- For added flavor, spread regular butter or garlic butter on each bread slice.
- Tear fresh basil leaves on the subs just before serving (optional).
