Remove the sausage casings and prepare the rest of the ingredients.
Place a large pot or a Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add olive oil and once it heats up, add sausage and start breaking it into smaller chunks.
Let it cook for about 7 to 8 minutes until it is partially cooked but still pink.
Add the onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add minced garlic and continue to sauté until the garlic is fragrant.
Add tomato paste and continue to cook for a minute.
Lastly, mix in the tomatoes and season with red pepper flakes, dried oregano, dried basil, and dried rosemary.
Pour in chicken broth and bring the soup to a boil.
Once it starts to boil, add red kidney beans and let them boil for about 5 minutes.
Add potato gnocchi and continue to boil the soup for 3 to 5 minutes or until the gnocchi is cooked through.
Season with salt and mix well.
Serve the soup by garnishing it with freshly chopped basil if desired.
