Alfredo sauce is one of the most popular sauces for pasta. It is a simple sauce normally prepared with heavy cream, butter, and parmesan cheese. We bring you an alternative version that’s without heavy cream, which is quite similar to a bechamel sauce with herbs and dry mozzarella.

Alfredo Sauce Recipe without Heavy Cream
A luxurious alfredo sauce recipe that doesn’t use heavy cream.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup wheat flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup dry mozzarella, grated
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- nutmeg, a pinch
- dried oregano, to taste
- Dried basil, to taste
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat.
- Add in wheat flour and stir well to combine.
- Gradually add the milk and stir until you obtain a lump-free mixture.
- Stir in grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Stir until cheeses have melted.
- Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg, oregano, and dried basil.
- Cook for a couple of minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve with your favorite pasta.
- Enjoy!

- If you like, you can add more cheese.
- Serve with any type of pasta.
- To enrich the flavors, add more dried herbs.
