Baked Gnocchi with Salmon and Dill Sauce Recipe
A luxurious Baked Gnocchi with Salmon and Dill Sauce recipe which pairs salmon and gnocchi with a decadent creamy dill sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Potato Gnocchi
- 1 pound Salmon Fillets, skin removed
- Salt, to taste
- Black Pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 4 tablespoons Butter, unsalted
- 3 tablespoons Flour, all-purpose
- 2 cups Milk
- ¼ cup Fresh Dill, plus more to garnish
- ¼ cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
- ½ cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Preheat an oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions or until they float to the surface. Drain and set aside.
- Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the salmon fillets and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and easily flake with a fork. Remove the salmon from the skillet and let it cool slightly. Break the salmon into bite-sized pieces.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for about 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- Gradually pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Continue to cook and whisk until the sauce thickens, approximately 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped fresh dill, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to taste. Remove the skillet from heat.
- In the greased baking dish, combine the cooked gnocchi, salmon pieces, and dill sauce. Gently toss to coat the gnocchi and salmon evenly with the sauce.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
- Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing it with more fresh dill and serving.
Notes
- Feel free to use premade or homemade gnocchi for this dish.
- Serve your baked gnocchi with salmon and dill sauce with a side salad or steamed vegetables.
