Chicken Marsala Recipe
A luxurious Chicken Marsala recipe which pairs chicken breasts and sauteed mushrooms with a decadent Marsala sauce.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 2 Chicken Breasts, boneless, skinless, cut in half horizontally
- ½ cup Flour, all-purpose
- 4 tablespoons Butter, unsalted
- ½ teaspoon Black Pepper, freshly ground
- 1 teaspoon Salt
Marsala Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Butter, unsalted
- 3/4 cup Marsala Wine, dry
- 8 ounces Cremini Mushrooms, sliced
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- ¾ cup Heavy Cream
- ½ cup Chicken Broth
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl, add garlic powder, salt, pepper and flour, and whisk together.
- Pound the chicken flat to about a ¼ inch thickness.
- Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture and set aside.
- Add 4 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter melts, add chicken and cook each side for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once the chicken is fully cooked, remove from the skillet and set aside. In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon of butter; once the butter melts, add the mushroom and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until browned.
- Add garlic and continue to cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Next, add broth and wine, and allow the mixture to simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until reduced by half.
- Add cream and chicken to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Once ready, transfer your chicken plus a generous amount of sauce onto plates and serve immediately.
Notes
- Pound the chicken by placing each chicken breast in a Ziplock bag. Use a mallet or a rolling pin to flatten the breasts until they are ¼” thick.
- You can use half and half instead of heavy cream.
- If you don’t have cremini mushrooms, substitute them for button mushrooms.
- Serve with a side of mashed potatoes.
