Tiramisu cake without ladyfinger biscuits is a tasty version of the traditional Tiramisu recipe. It takes a bit more time to prepare, but it is well worth it. Tiramisu Recipe without Ladyfingers (Coffee-Soaked Cake)
A luxurious Tiramisu Recipe without Ladyfingers which pairs coffee-soaked cake with decadent mascarpone cream.
Ingredients
- 1 cup espresso, sweetened to taste
Cake
- 1 1/4 cups Flour, all-purpose
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 cup Sugar, granulated
- 2 Eggs
- ½ cup Milk
- ¼ cup Butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
- Vanilla Extract, a few drops
Mascarpone cream
- 7 Egg Yolks
- 1 cup Sugar, +1 tbsp more
- 8 oz Mascarpone
- 1 ¾ cups Heavy Whipping Cream, heavy, whipped into stiff peaks
- Cocoa Powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a round cake baking pan.
- For preparing the cake, in a large mixing bowl, combine eggs and sugar. Whisk until you obtain a creamy and homogeneous mixture.
- Add milk, melted butter, vegetable oil, and a few drops of vanilla extract. Whisk again to combine.
- Add flour combined with baking powder. Mix well again until homogeneous and lump-free.
- Pour the mixture into the cake pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the pan and let it cool completely.
- Slice the cake with a sharp long cake knife in two equal layers.
- Prepare the cream by placing egg yolks and sugar in a mixing bowl. Whisk until homogeneous and creamy.
- Add in whipped cream and whisk until combined.
- Stir in mascarpone cheese.
- Place the bottom layer of the cake onto a cake plate and sprinkle it with coffee.
- Spread half of the cream and level it with a spatula.
- Cover with the second cake layer and spread the remaining amount of the cream.
- Place the cake in the refrigerator for at least 5 hours before serving.
- Serve sprinkled with cocoa powder.

Notes
- You can also replace the cake layers with ladyfingers if you do not have much time, as the cream can be prepared very quickly.
